I am having a design made for me. Which is the best file format to use?
The choices I have are, SVG DXF EPS I will appreciate being pointed in the right direction.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Which is the best file
In order of preference, best first, I would go SVG, EPS then DXF.

My answer would be a little different to Adrians
I would say SVG, EPS forget DXF altogether

I use Svg mostly but I've had clients send me many Dxf files and I just import them, set the pocket depth and start carving without any issues. Is there a reason for the dislike of the format or is it just cnc cancel culture.

I don't dislike DXF just because it's the older format. It's just that SVG and EPS are better for a lot of the work I do as they support bezier curves. There are other differences between SVG and DXF (mainly layers for me) that can be very import depending on your workflow. At the end of the day if it works for you then that's all that matters.

I get DXF map files from an associate. We settled on that because the others caused more issues. With the DXF I get a minor error on import, but size and detail are correct. But then, these are just 2D files.

Ok Adrian, after reading an old thread and some googeling, I'm convinced and I'll be sticking with Svg whenever possible.
You'd think since bezier curves have been around since the 60s, Dxf would support them.

Re: Which is the best file
The .dxf format supports AutoCAD entities only, and AutoCAD does not use Bezier curves.
