Getting the Router to lift in the Z axis before attempting to move to another part when parts are nested
Getting the Router to lift in the Z axis before attempting to move to another part when parts are nested
I am new to the CNC world for creating parts, but I have been successful in making individual parts so far. When I have attempted to nest the parts and move from part to part, I am having an issue with the bit being dragged through a good part while lifting to get to the next part. I really need the router to lift in the Z axis and then make the X,Y axis move and then start the router back down to start cutting. I am using Vectric Pro for the software and I am running a Shark HD520. Is there a lift command that I am missing?

Unfortunately, I don't have any experience with a Shark HD520. I would have a look at the Material Setup for clearing the bit off of your work. It could also be how your post processor is set up. IIRC, posts for machines like the Shark are edited by the machine builder. So you might want to post on their forum or send them an email.

Thanks for the info. In the set up there is a Z1 and no matter what I set the result is the same. I definately may need to ask Shark aout the issue too.

You say you are running this machine but you didn't mention what post processor that you are using to sav code from VCarve to run on it.Shark HD520

The post processor is for Nextwave CNC from Vectric.

Just so you know, manufacturers modify a post and then provide it to Vectric. So the horse's mouth is the builder.

Re: Getting the Router to lift in the Z axis before attempting to move to another part when parts are nested
My question was a bit disingenuous as I already knew what the answer would probably be. There have been post here, recently, regarding the NextWave post processors—mostly regarding the added Vectric laser module capability.
The lack of z-lift sounds very much how a laser cutter would behave. Do you perhaps have your machine set to laser mode?
TReischl is probably spot on about this. Next Wave have updated their processors to take in laser and other differences in their machines and controllers. https://nextwaveautomation.zendesk.com/ ... processors

Re: Getting the Router to lift in the Z axis before attempting to move to another part when parts are nested
I have been running my Shark and Pirahna on Aspire and Vcarve desktop both Version 10 (with latest up dates) using the provided nextwave PP with no issues, I have not run a nested job for 2 months or so.
Can you look at the G code in the move from part 1 to part 2 and see what the is set to?
