Boundary

Post by Bunky »

Attached three files
Tom2 Vcarve Pro file with two objects
Capture1 Drawing view
Capture2 Print Preview

Imported a jpg file into Tom2 file and drew vectors around the two objects. Deleted the jpeg.
In Drawing View file appears correct, no box, objects not reduced in size.
Box only shows in Print Preview, cannot be selected/deleted. Don't know what the box is around the two objects and cannot get rid of it. Want to print the objects as shown in Capture1, but prints as shown in Capture2, reduced size in the box. Tried interactive trim tool with no results.

The box in print preview indicates the size of the material.

You need to zoom in and out to get the scale you want if you're printing. The printing in VCarve is not to scale.

If you want to print to scale then you have to use the Export Vectors and choose PDF. Load that PDF file into your preferred PDF viewer and print to scale from there.

Thanks Adrian.

In 3+ years of using VCarvePro, this is the first time I have seen this. Everything has always printed correctly. Is there some print setup I have missed on my file? It is currently set for letter size.

The printing is linked to the view primarily. You have to zoom in and out and keep referring back to the print preview to get it the way you want. There's no way that I know of to get the selection/job to fill the selected paper size. You might just have hit a sweet spot by accident before.

To be honest I've probably printed a drawing once or twice in 15 years as I've never had the need to do it so there might be some trick (other than exporting to PDF) that I don't know about.

set job material size to 30.0 by 30.0 do not check the Design scaling click ok

Re-center the design to the center of material

Use mouse wheel to zoom so that the material exceeds drawing box area. Re-center design in drawing box area and then select print preview.

May have to play with this a bit it is tricky!
