material hold down

Post by CLASICOAK »

I've been using the blue tape along with the ca glue works great. last week I went to cut something found out I was out of the glue so I got the hot glue gun out and laid two beads across the tape on one side and put the piece on the other strip held it in place with pressure let it cool then cut the model and cut it out I kept doing this with other pieces and I have had no problems. on some pieces I put a little extra on the out side corners still on the tape just to be sure. has anyone else tried this I haven't seen anybody else suggest this method -Jeff

FYI, after you are done cutting you can easily remove hot glue from the material using rubbing alcohol (isopropyl alcohol).

My problem with hot glue is that it cools too fast. I ended up with some kind of "lumps" underneath that caused variances in Z height.
