As I use Aspire, this may not be of any help, but we have an option to make a 3D model from the result of toolpaths. So if the moulding toolpath works to generate a preview that is acceptable, then a 3D model can be created of that preview which then could be cut with the 3D roughing and 3D finishing toolpaths. No overcutting needed like the moulding toolpath would do.

Thanks - that's sort of what I was wondering.
So - the option is somewhere in Aspire?

Yes, it's the on the Model menu. Create Component from.../Create Component from Toolpath Preview.
