Text on tree of life vectors

Post by spud321 »

I have watched quite a few tutorials about text on text where you convert to curves to get layers to weld properly .
I tried this method with a sign I am trying to make . The bottom layer has the tree of life vectors and the top layer has a name in text .i can convert top layer to curves but when I try to convert bottom layer the option for convert to curves is greyed out ?? When I check bottom layer for vector validation I found some open vectors ? Is this causing the option to convert to curves not to be active?? Do I need to fix those vectors first ??

Can you upload your CRV file? That helps eliminate a lot of random guessing.

How do I upload files or photos to the forum?

There can be all sort of problems caused by free download fonts if that is what your bottom layer font is, I never use them for that reason.
As Randall says it's difficult to know without seeing the file but you could start by fixing the open vectors problem, won't do any harm & good practice

If I understand this correctly, converting to vectors is for fonts only. The Tree Of Life is already vectors.

here is the crv file , i did a new tree of life layer made with clip art and the vectric trace bitmap option . no issues with open vectors now .
my intention is to have the text on top layer above the tree???

Think you might be right Steve  , I thought he had 2 lots of fonts as you get with stacked text & then the tree of life vectors, one of the fonts had converted but the other font had not hence the coment about free downloaded fonts

Like so???

Manually trimmed using trim tool for both top and bottom layers. Had to ungroup the tree of life vectors and the font vectors. Also Converted fonts to curves.
