Dust cnc makes a lot of it

So we all now that CNC creates a lot of dust/wood chips (assuming that the machine is cutting wood) Has anyone found a sensible use for what is, after all, a resource.

Seems a shame to just throw it away.

I saw a FaceBook post where a fellow makes fire-starter cubes by mixing melted paraffin (melted in an old Crockpot) with wood chips in square molds. After they are “set” the cubes are wrapped in paper bound with string which serves to help ignite the cube.

I guess the only precaution is don’t use wood chips from certain “exotic” wood that could give off toxic fumes.

I pour this mix into empty egg carton pockets and cut them up later and use only what I need each time.

The fine dust from the cnc goes to mechanics and machinists for oil absorbant. The shavings from the planer and jointer etc go to rabbit and chicken farms. I only throw out dust that is contaminated with plastic

I till it into the garden.
Its great for aerating the soil and will decompose to a rich soil.
Well,,, I say "I" but actually the wife does the tilling.

Some types of wood dust/chips should not be use in a garden, Walnut, for example, will produce a chemical that is toxic to other plants.

I save it in different containers and use it on all kinds of projects. On some Intarsias I've used it for the background and mix it with glue for filler. More recent I mixed some Sapele Wood Chips with some resin and used it to coat and color the project. viewtopic.php?f=29&t=35653

If you can guarantee close to "pure" wood (i.e. no glue from MDF, etc.) your local ceramicist might be interested for saw-dust firings.
