Am I missing something here???
V carve Desktop.
So I upgraded to V10.505 and suddenly I have this happening.
I send the program to the machine and it fast traverses to the starting point without starting the spindle or dust collector.
The Z travels down, and at the last second the spindle and DC starts up. (Very scary)
At every move during the program, the spindle and DC will stop when it changes direction and restart again just as it starts to make the next cut.
The spindle and DC will start and stop hundreds of times during a job.
Am I missing a setting somewhere?

Thank you for the reply.
I've been using the same post processor for 4 years.

Re: Am I missing something here???
Ok let me clarify
Is it one you copied yourself from previous version or is it one the vectric Software installed when you upgraded?
I have seen and found myself the Post Processors sometimes change. Not exactly sure why but they do. So if you are relying on the Software upgrade to take care of everything then you might get a post processor that may have been changed.
Since version 8 I have been saving my post processors, gadgets, tool database, options settings, etc.. then after upgrade copy to appropriate locations.

No, this is a post processor that someone gave me when I first started in CNC.
At that time I was struggling this solved my issues.

Re: Am I missing something here???
okay then I am at a loss as to why your machine is acting strangely.
There may be someone else here who may chime in to help.
Worse case scenario would be to contact Vectric support or X-Carve support!

Re: Am I missing something here???
That sounds like a post processor for a laser. That would explain the starts and stops (think beam on, beam off) and why it starts right before the cut move.

Re: Am I missing something here???
Was the post processor you were given a different file name from a standard one? Did you install it in My_PostP or in the PostP folder.
Sounds all the world to me as though your processor has been replaced with a new one and the macro calls it's doing aren't liked by your setup.
The new x-carve post process inherits the grbl post processor which is one of the ones modified to do double duty as a "normal" one and a laser one.
You need to go back and check what you had previously and see if it's changed.

Well I have to admit that right now my face is quite red.
It was a dumb ass mistake on my part.
I wasn't even going to say what it was, but Ted hit the nail right on the head.
My head is hanging very low right now.

Re: Am I missing something here???
I do not have a laser so again it was something I had never experienced. But yeah from Ted's explanation though it does sound like a laser post processor.
Hey, just be thankful that it was only a silly mistake for if it had not been the Post Processor we would all be chasing tails trying to determine what could have been wrong.
We all learn from our mistakes and sometimes from others and we grow from these mistakes.

Re: Am I missing something here???
I make most of my mistakes when I think I am being clever.
Have also learned I start flubbing up towards the end of the day.
I do not get too concerned about them though, seems to be a normal state for me, LOL.
