No Toolpath Generated
No Toolpath Generated
I keep getting an error when I try to create a toolpath.
This is a file that I have cut before. I moved the object 1" to the right and now it errors.
I upgraded to Ver. 10.022

What is the error message?
More information would be a big help....

Well, looks like I will either have to dust off the crystal ball, or do one of those tele-transport things. . . I am getting too old for that though.
Seriously, like Mr. John said, a lot more information is needed.

Sorry....
I tried to attach screen shots for reference and couldn't
The error reads:
No Toolpath Generated for current parameters.
Check tool can fit into selected vectors at machine depth.
Since posting I kept searching for the cause of the error and found that if I selected to cut inside or outside I get the error. When I select On it works fine.

Re: No Toolpath Generated
Sounds like a “bad” vector. Probably a loop or crossover intersection (but could be a tiny zig-zag or a stray vector selected with your intended vector). Did you use the Vector Validator to see if it detects anything amiss?

Re: No Toolpath Generated
No I didn't try the vector validator.
But why does on path work and inside or outside of path error?
Some additional information:
1/8" bit set to cut .72 (material thickness)

Re: No Toolpath Generated
Because they use different calculations. If you have a loop an inside or outside cut may cross over the vector once you've allowed for the width of the tool but cutting on the vector the tool doesn't "project" the full width either side so may not cross over.

Re: No Toolpath Generated
Hi,
If you can’t find the problem, we can help. All we need is for you to upload your actual VCarve project file here so we can inspect it.
If the file size is too large to upload/attach here, then you can use a file service such as DropBox to upload it and then post the download link here instead.

Re: No Toolpath Generated
The Vector Validator will let you know if any of your vectors have intersections and/or overlaps. It is not always possible to see the problem in a standard view. You have to zoom in on the vectors at various suspected locations to check for the above noted conditions.
Please provide/post your .crv file here so that we may analyze it to determine your problem issue. If the file is to large then post it in a dropbox or something similar then post a link to it here on the forum.

Re: No Toolpath Generated
As Ted has said you haven't really given enough detail & with no pictures to help people are just guessing. What type of toolpath are you trying to use?
This may be as simple as now you have moved a vector there simply isn't room for the bit you are trying to use to fit anymore but without some more info, the file or at least some screenshots the problem isn't going to get fixed unless someone guesses right

Pics might be marginally helpful, but we really need your project file. We’ll wait!

Re: No Toolpath Generated
Well, the node validator found a small line that I could not see.
I am very sorry for not being as smart as those of you putting me down for not posting the pictures. As I said in a earlier post, I could not figure out how to post them. Yet none of you offered to help me with them.
My problem has been solved. Sorry to have bother you.

If you want to post a picture:
Click on "Attachments" (below message box).
Click on "Add files"
Find the file you want to add and double click on it.
Locate your cursor in the message box where you want the file to appear.
Click on "Place inline"
Or just drag and drop the file in the message box.
I know, the process is not intuitive.

Re: No Toolpath Generated
Hi,
Good job on finding that stray vector! Glad you were able to resolve the problem.
As far as posting photos, that would not have helped in this case. The actual file would have been needed so we could help troubleshoot the vector issue. That usually requires multiple steps, zooming in/out, Vector Validator, etc. (Can’t do that with screenshot photos, of course).
When you make a post in the forum, you can attach a photo or file by clicking on the Attachments/Add file button below the text area where you type. It’s very similar to attaching photos when you send pics via email. There is a file size limit of 2MB, I believe. So if a photo or file is too large, then you can use something like DropBox instead.
Again, congrats for sleuthing the vector problem and solving it!
EDIT: I see Mike posted just before I did. He suggested clicking Place Inline, and that’s fine. I don’t do that myself because I don’t want my photos mixed in with the text, but it’s an option you can use use if you want. Either way, your photo will appear with your postings whether “inline” is selected or not.
