Vcarve Is Barely Scratching The Surface

Post by garymkrieg »

I'm obviously missing something here. I carved this two other times, one a test cut and the second needed a little change in the layout. So this is my third carve. zero position is material surface. I zero the V bit at the datum and using a piece of paper I get the Z zeroed out. I run the carve and the bit hardly scratches the surface of the board. I put a steel ruler on the board the surface is flat. I zero the Z off the general area where the vcarving will take place, same result. Checked the see that the bit was tight, it was. I'm lost here. Attached is the CRV file.

Those are very shallow cuts (4/100" at the deepest point) so you would need to be spot on with the z-zero. I know you said you had cut it twice before but all I can think is that it's the z-zero setting that is the issue.

Looks like your right, I guess I lucked out the first two times when I set the z height.
