Re: USMC Logo
Couple of different options, you may be able to find it as a vector file either free or paid for, if not then your best option would be to draw it yourself using the bitmap as a template. If that is a skill you haven't yet mastered then you can use the bitmap trace tool. How good a job it does depends on a few factors, colours, resolution of bitmap & complxity are the 3 main ones. If your using the bitmap trace then try to find a high rez image in either tiff or BMP format, jpeg is actually the worst format for auto trace programs so if you can find something else then you often get a much better trace with less cleaning up to do.

Try this site, it's already been vectorized

From an old Marine, I say thank you. I have downloaded the files. Which format would be the best to use in V Carve and what bit would you recommend

Re: USMC Logo
Generally speaking you will find that EPS will give you less problems than any other file format when importing into any program not just V carve but PDF is generally fairly good as well. If John said the PDF version imported OK then at least you know your not going to have problems.
When it comes to what bit/bits to use then it really comes down to a few different factors, what sort of look you would like & the size it is going to be would be the main ones I would think for that artwork.
Re: USMC Logo
Well, I am new to this so I just did not know what kind of bit to start with . More than likely, it will be something on a 12" square piece of wood. If this is the case, what would you start with? I would try it on a peice of scrap first of course. Any advice?

Re: USMC Logo
Try Vcarve with 60° V-bit @ 0.15 flat depth. Use a 1/8" or 1/4" bit (use clearance tools) to clear out the majority of carve.

Re: USMC Logo
I don't have any say in it. I got this https://muskegonbiker.com/military-logos-vector/ from Highpockets previous post in this thread. You'd have to look at this site's terms of use.jimandi5000 wrote: ↑Tue May 19, 2020 9:40 pmHi GKAS,
Do you mind if I put this logo on a Flag Gadget?

Re: USMC Logo
Here's one the I have been refining for laser work.
It still has a little noise in it and the lettering on the flag needs some more work.
But it should carve nicely for you.
The picture is a coaster I did just yesterday on ceramic tile.

Thank you so much. I really appreciate it. Do you mind sharing what bits to use? I am just new to this. I am also not sure about what or how to use different drill bits. I am just really new to this.

Stacy I understand that you are new to this & there is a lot to learn about both the CNC machine & the Vectric software if you are new to both. To give you a better understanding of what bits to use with which type of toolpath for different types of project you would be best spending some time working your way though the tutorials in the support section.
Most of the tutorials come with files you can download & work along with the video. Dual monitor set up or 2 computers will help with this as you can watch the video on one & follow along on the other.
You will get the most out of it if you start at the beginning rather than cherry picking the tutorials that take your fancy
They will answer a lot of the questions you may have & anything else you are still unsure of then the forum will help
If your last question was to Jan then he isn't using any bits at all for the job he has posted, it's being set up for laser engraving rather than cutting on a CNC router

Re: USMC Logo
Yes, I did make the coaster with my laser.
But I created the file in Vectric Desktop, so it can still be used with the CNC
