A few years back, I made one of my granddaughters a highchair. Her mother had me paint it high gloss bright white. It turned out very well.

Love all your detail, finished project will be beautiful. some shelac and d/n alchohol will help with that soft wood

Thank you Guys for your tips/comments!

Awaiting for weather here to get a little better before applying the finish coats but in the meantime I have been applying wood filler in areas of tear out and other discrepancies. Should be able to sand all those filled areas today.

Progress Report 3/15/2020

The weather finally had gotten right to be able to stain (Natural Stain to bring out wood grain) all the parts for the High Chair/Rocker. Hopefully the weather will remain right so that I can put a seal coat of Semi-Gloss Polyurethane on all the parts. After a couple of seal coats with light sanding in between and a final cure the parts will be ready to assemble. I am a nervous wreck having to wait to get this proto-type high chair/rocker assembled and checked for true functionality! In the meantime I am working on preparing a .pdf for all the details of construction for the High Chair/Rocker.

Here is what I have assembled so far.

The lower section had a few minor adjustments that were required for proper functionality. The plans and drawings are in the works which I believe has been the most tedious due to the making/creating of it so that all can understand.

As a High Chair

Here is the High Chair Assembled all except the Serving Tray. It converts easily and is functional.

Details and plans are still in the works

A note here:This proto-type is mostly 3/4" thick pine except the seat and back support which are 1" thick pine Ideally the entire chair should be all 1" Thick except the foot rest and dowels!

A little trivia for the forum members here:
There are two Items missing (not including the serving tray and its arms). They are critical parts (safety) to the assembly (which I had missed until now after reviewing photo of original High Chair). Can you find/spot them?

Spotted one. A very, very large child could swallow the chair. (Choking hazard)

Good Try Michael but no Cigar!

I have installed the Serving tray along with serving tray arms so now the High Chair / Rocker is complete less the two items I had discovered earlier that are missing and are a critical safety feature especially for big toddler being chair. I will release that information in a couple of days. I am looking to see if anyone here spots the two items missing.

Here are the images/photos of the High Chair Rocker
