Cutting Mica

Post by Robert L »

I have a job cutting odd shapes of Mica for various lamp shades. Has anyone done this on
a cnc? If so what cutter would be the best choice?

Thank,

Robert

Never tried cutting mica. Wonder if a drag knife would work? Maybe run the cut twice to get a clean cut.

I've got a couple dozen sheets from these people in both shellac and epoxy in various colors/thicknesses from building the house 22 years ago;

We used shears on the small projects we did....Maybe give them a call and see recommendations?
If you do ask...make sure and post your results please...I'm interested, but haven't needed it yet.
Interesting video from them;
