I use two 20" (Measured Diagnally) HP Monitors --- Left Monitor Containing the V-Carve Pro Main Program with 2D View and 3D View open side by side and the Right Monitor containing the Left Side or Bottom Tabs (Drawing, Modeling, Clipart, Layers, Sheets) and the Toolpaths Tab. For my everyday use there is sufficient room for the 2D and 3D Views to Co-Exist Together within the V-Carve Window.
This Above Setup Serves me well of course up until the event of a creation of a 3D model comes into play. This is where I have another software program for the purpose of creating models for importing into V-Carve Pro. Due to the considerable memory and processor use when working with creating models I tend to shut down V-Carve Pro. But there are those rare occasions (Model Tweaking) when I do use both programs -- One on the Left Monitor and One on the Right Monitor.
