PDF not "printing" to size?
Hi all, have a quick question for those who use the PDF export function.
I select all my vectors in VCarve and export to pdf and save that file.
I then export that same PDF back into VCarve and it doesn't import in at the same size? It appears to import smaller?
Anyone?
Thanks as always for your help
Dave

Ok, guess I'm all alone on this since I haven't heard a word either way.
I'll check in with support on this issue.....thanks for at least looking everyone!

Re: PDF not "printing" to size?
Why don't you just save the file from Aspire as a v-carve file?

Re: PDF not "printing" to size?
Thank you, Dale, but I do not have Aspire. I have Vcarve pro, and what I was trying to do was to print out my VCarve vectors (that I drew to scale in VCarve) to a pdf file, which I could then print out on a printer at a later date.
So after I saved the PDF, I wanted to see how accurate it was. I then imported the PDF file I just saved, back into the same VCarve file I drew it from, and the PDF vectors import smaller than the original file that it was created from. Shouldn't it import at the exact same size vectors as the original VCarve Pro file?
Does that make more sense?
Thanks for your time-
Dave

Re: PDF not "printing" to size?
Print size is usually controlled by the printer driver.
When you print does your printer screen have a custom scale?

Hi, Dale, are you saying you can do what I did in my last reply and you can bring back a set of vectors saved in PDF format and it's the same size?
May I ask what PDF program you use?

Fretsman68 I am not an expert but it may be dependant on what setting you choose in the PDF pop up box, what options are you selecting ? Just had a quick look & tried myself, when I imported the file it had created a second vector which was exactly the same size as the job set up sheet, the original vector did import at the correct size though

Re: PDF not "printing" to size?
Thank you! So which settings did you choose so I can try it here?

Re: PDF not "printing" to size?
Just to add, it wouldn't matter what PDF software Dale was using unless there are problems opening the file with a PDF viewer or editor. The PDF export from vcarve will be controlled from the PDF filters that vcarve uses not by any other PDF software installed on the computer
I have design computer here so will look & let you know

Re: PDF not "printing" to size?
OK just tried again & it would seem that the imported vectors are coming back in at a different size, not enough that I noticed at first glance, the 2 squares I had drawn looked to be exactly the same size but probably because I drew to big a box to start with.
Will have a look at the different export options latter on when I have more time & see if I can figure it out, as I say I am not an expert & for most of what I do finished size is not that critical.
Have you tried different export options such as EPS to see if you get the same results??

Re: PDF not "printing" to size?
ok, good, the I'm not crazy! I look for + or - .005 tolerancing, which VCarve easily has held in previous versions using EPS or DXF, but the PDF feature would be SO nice if I can get it to work correctly. I have tried the different PDF output setting in VCarve, and I just can't seem to hit the same exact vector sizing.
I do have a inquiry to VCarve, but it's the weekend and I'm not sure how long that will be (understood, of course!)

Re: PDF not "printing" to size?
Exporting and importing a 150mm square as EPS (or the other options) will import as 150mm. With the PDF export it imports at 149.7mm.
Printing the PDF to scale from Adobe Reader DC appears to be 1mm short as well.
Looks like there might be an issue with the Export Job Bounds option too because whatever I set that to the vector for the job boundary is still created.

Thanks always for your input Adrian, hopefully Vectric comes up with a solution to this one for me/us.
