Canoe stations

Post by lostcreekwoodworking »

I am interested in building a wood strip canoe but would like to cut my own molding stations. Anyone know if a place to find the stations on line for VCarve? I am interested in a few models from Bear Mountain Boats.

Why not toss the $25 to Bear Mountain and buy his book with plans? Small fraction of the overall cost, and it is the right thing to do.

I have the book and could cut the stations out by hand. I figured since I have a CNC the stations would come out a lot smoother using it.

I wonder if you emailed them directly and explained you have a CNC you want to cut out parts with if they could provide some resources for you. Nothing to lose!

Learning how to draw them yourself from the info in the book is good practice, and will be good experience for future projects.

I agree - make your own lines.

You would lay it out in Vectric the same as you would on a piece of paper.

If you have the book, scan the pattern into your computer bring the bitmaps into VCP and hand trace them, wouldn't recommend the Trace Bitmap tool. And as others have said, you'd learn a lot by doing the project yourself. A win win.....

They DO CNC cut some of the forms

It would be worth while to ask them if they have the geometry in a digital format.
