VCarve Pro 4.6 Released

Post by Tony Mac »

Image

We are very pleased to announce that VCarve Pro 4.6 has been released.

After releasing VCarve Pro 4.5 in November, a couple of usability issues surfaced that were primarily related to how the new 2D / 3D toolpath visibility behaved when opening saved files. This behaviour was annoying so we decided to fix it and version 4.6 now remembers the visibility state when opening files. While updating this behaviour we decided to take the opportunity to develop additional Profile and Pocket machining functionality that makes the software even more powerful and flexible.

Note - This information has been emailed to all customers who are licensed to run version VCarve Pro 4.0 / 4.5.

*********************************************************************************************

Version 4.6 is a Free Upgrade for customers running VCarve Pro version 4.0 / 4.5 and the new software can be downloaded from the following link,

Link no longer working, please contact support.

Run the update and it will search your hard drive for an original 4.5 (or 4.0) installation and make the changes needed for version 4.6.

Note: Version 4.6 does not require a new license code

Important – When running version 4.6 for the first time please check the correct postprocessor for your machine selected before saving toolpaths.

This update will retain your Tool Database and any special postprocessors you may have installed.

If you need help updating to version 4.6 or have any questions please email – support@vectric.com

Hi Tony,
Very well done, thanks. I have a problem though and I'm not quite sure if it's from my side or yours. The pointer to the "What's new in version 4.5 + 4.6 PDF is giving me an error saying "There was an error opening this file. This file cannot be found". Is anyone having the same problem? :( Please advise.
Thanks

Hello,
The shortcut should point to one of the following locations, depending
on what version you upgraded from.
Could you check to see if the file exists.

C:\Program Files\VCarve Pro 4.6\Help\WhatsNew\WhatsNew.htm
C:\Program Files\VCarve Pro 4.5\Help\WhatsNew\WhatsNew.htm
C:\Program Files\VCarve Pro 4.0\Help\WhatsNew\WhatsNew.htm

There is a copy of the file attached that you can copy over, just unzip the file and copy it to the correct location.

Mark.

Hi Martin,

Another option is to,

Place the cursor over the link > Click Right mouse > Save Target As

Save the file onto your PC and run it from there.

I hope this helps,

Tony

I was about to communicate that 2D behaviour !!! It's comforting to see how you guys are taking care of us. If I can propose, The only feature I would rave about right now is a wood grain simulation !!! But the software is really intuitive and well maintained as you show-up with an update barely a month after 4.5. It was thoughtful of you guys to adress this issue. My dell XPS m1730 could open these files in a flash but my older latitude c 840 ( connected to my cnc table) could take minutes just reopening a file that had many toolpaths in 2D mode ! Love My V-Carve !!!
Happy holidays
