I'm looking for web sites to buy vector art to import into my V carve Pro. I'm already aware of the obvious sites like Vectric. I must be inputting the wrong words into the google search engine because I'm having a hard time finding simple art work like the profile of Illinois state, or a profile of a presidential bust. I can fine picture that are very detailed, however I'm just wanting to cut out the state of Illinois or cut out shapes of things.

Do a google image search rather than a text search. Go to http://images.google.com and type in Illinois to see what I mean.

You can further refine the search by clicking on Search Tools or by putting different keywords into the search as "Illinois vector" "Illinois line art" "Illinois colouring" etc

Have you explore silhouette files? Often free, they trace perfectly.

click search
click images
[a nice outline is one of the 1st results]
click search tools/type
try clip art then line drawings if necessary, can also chose black and white only if there are too many color results

Once you find a suitable graphic, save it then open in software, then use the trace bitmap tool to covert it to vectors.

i cant remember where the file came from. there may be open vectors but that is an easy fix.

stringing words together can be a bad idea if using something like google to search, if you are getting nothing that is of any relevance then try reducing the words used to search & use the built in search options in google, try line art or silhouettes as a search option. Adding vector will help a lot, the word profile is probably not a good option when searching.
If it's 3d stuff then try searching for 3d model or stl, bas relief is another term that could be used for 3d project searching.
