Carving on both sides, How do you do it?

Post by DavidCousins »

Using VcarvePro, what is the best method to carve both sides of a project.

Do you recommend index holes? That's what I'm guessing. How many holes?

But how do you flip the object in Vcarve and make sure its registered, hasn't moved with respect to the index holes.

Any common sense idea's that you care to share?

well, I haven't actually done it.......but here's what I would do.

I would set the material size in VCarve and then create a rectangle the same size with an origin of 0,0. That way when you capture the elements in your file and use the mirror button to flip it, it will flip on its center. The rectangle will only be used for the flip.

Also set up your index holes on the centerline of your material.

Hope this helps.

Turtle, Thanks for the post. A very simple method. I knew it was just common sense and a little planning.

Coincidently, in the Tips and Tricks forum there is already a thread on this subject and it's active right now.

Ya, I saw that there was another thread.

I liked Burchtree's idea of inserting blocks in your sacrificial bed to help index.

Good Luck!
