Post by Dan.H. »

Vvarving a pocketed area or area's..example...if I wanted to pocket area's on a 24x18 piece and then go back and vcarve
text or graphics into them...is there a way...I tried setting the rapid clrearance gap and z height to 1in. in simulation
but cannot stop from dragging bits across work..or getting it to show cutting action in pocketed areas..am I missing
something...? thanks ..Dan

Hi Dan,

You should certainly be able to pocket and then VCarve without the cutter touching the material surface.

The Rapid Clearance Gap is applied to all toolpaths and VCW should ensure this height is above the material surface.

Can you send us the file so we can take a look.

Tony

I found what is happening..the rapid clearance is defaulting...not sure why yet, but on the shop computer it
defaults to .2842..or some such number..tried on others and no problems...maybe its like Coreldraw when you have
to many ver. on one computer the last one loaded has its ini. file ....curious...
