Re: Saving part file as Shopbot doesn't work
Did you, by chance install the shopbot control software to a different drive than C: ? I tried that originally, as I install almost all software to something other than the system drive. If so, that could cause this issue.
If not, just run the setup program from SB3 - as Adrian said, it will create the files. Where some of these files, like shopbot.ini are stored may actaully be different, depending on what OS you are running. You can see where the are located from SB3 with the HD command (Help|Data Files)
my_variables.sbc, however, is expected in the location indicated in the custom90,sbc file.
EDIT: Hmm - after thunking about it, the software probably wouldn't even find custom90.sbc, if it were installed on a different drive... Just run the setup and let us know the result.

Re: Saving part file as Shopbot doesn't work
The schools tech guy looked at where the program is being saved and he said it is correct, must be something else.
Re: Saving part file as Shopbot doesn't work
I wonder if there is a way to send someone a simple file and see if you can look at it and see if you get the same errors? Thanks, Doug

Re: Saving part file as Shopbot doesn't work
If there's no copyright involved with the file then you can just attach it to a post here.
I doubt it will tell you anything though. As we've said the issue isn't with the file coming out of the VCarve it's with the installation of SB3 on your PC. Where you save the file doesn't matter so I'm not sure what the tech guy means. Has he looked at the files mentioned in this thread to make sure they're all present and pointing to the right places?

Re: Saving part file as Shopbot doesn't work
Yes he looked at all the posts and found where the files were saved in the shopbot program. When I tried to add the file to this post it said sbp is not allowed. how to I show a file here???? (grrrrrr)
Re: Saving part file as Shopbot doesn't work
Is it possible you have the wrong control software? PRT’s without a 4g upgrade use this one ShopBot Control Software Version 3.4.27PRT LATEST UPDATE 10/04/06 10MB

To add an SBP file here you can either zip it or rename to something that is allowed like txt.
Re: Saving part file as Shopbot doesn't work
ok got it save to word, here what the file looks like and if I delete the first 13 of lines then it works.

Re: Saving part file as Shopbot doesn't work
That's a standard SBP file produced from VCarve and looks exactly the same as the ones I run. As we already know the issue is the call to the Custom90/my_variables (C#,90).
Not sure what else to add really. The problem has been addressed several times in this thread already. Until you resolve why your setup is not finding the my_variables file by taking the steps suggested by the people posting in the thread you're not going to get this sorted.
Deleting the lines might make the file run but it's not solving the problem. It's a bit like taking the bulb out of the oil warning light on a car rather than putting oil in it!

Re: Saving part file as Shopbot doesn't work
I just previewed it on my Shopbot control software. No problems here.

Re: Saving part file as Shopbot doesn't work
I still see no indication that you have run the ShopBot setup program from SB3, yet...
Have you? Open The ShopBot control software (on the computer running the 'Bot) and either type, "TS" or from the menu select Tools|ShopBot Setup, then follow the prompts...

Ok I deleted Custom90/my_variables ©#,90). and tried to run your program and got this. Is this what you are seeing? I ran the set up program and all is fine again.

Re: Saving part file as Shopbot doesn't work
Yes that is exactly what I get. I tried to reload shopbot program there is an error that pops up saying access denied while trying to read source file and it is that variable file. I also tried to type "T" "S" and nothing showed up on the screen.

Re: Saving part file as Shopbot doesn't work
You mention that you have tech guys who look after the computers?
If they are anything like the guys I've worked with in schools I bet they have locked down the access to everything on the PC.
The software needs read and write access to the c:\sbparts folder and everything below it and to the ShopBot folder in the Program Files folder. There might be others as well but it may well be worth checking with them to make sure that the user account you're running under has access to those areas at least.
