Delete nested sheets

Post by desman »

Is it possible to delete nested sheets. I had already saved the file so control z will not undo the nest.

Thanks

I mean the sheets themselves not just the nested vectors. Having the extra sheets just adds clutter.

Unfortunately the only way is Ctrl-Z which is not an option for you now.

All you can really do is start a new instance of VCarve and cut/paste the vectors over.

I was afraid of that. The thing it really affects is when you zoom all then all the sheets are shown and you have to zoom window to view your current sheet. Other than that the extra sheets are not in the way.

best solution is to make a copy of your parts off to the side and then nest away. if you need to redo anything you have the original parts.

I forgot to create copies of my vectors / groupings before nesting and now I want everything removed from nesting. SURELY this isn't STILL an issue???? Doesn't this seem like a major design flaw?? Any time the solution is "create a new file and start over" you'd think it would be addressed by the development team ASAP.

I hope I'm wrong and there is a way to avoid all of this mess??? I don't nest too often so I invariably forget a few things as I relearn the process each time. Once again, I'm going to have to waste a great deal of time when a relatively simple (from my non-code-writing-viewpoint) "undo nesting" function could solve the problem.?
------
Edit: Once again immediately following my unhinged rant above I've found a solution.

If you double-click/activate a sheet and then select-all CUT. Then activate your DEFAULT SHEET and PASTE. Do this for Sheet 1, Sheet 2, etc. Move everything back to the DEFAULT sheet and then you haven't lost anything.

However, I still find it ridiculous that it is impossible to remove / undo nesting and/or delete sheets after the fact.
------
Edit #2: You CAN remove unwanted sheets. After you've moved everything back to your DEFAULT sheet simply nest something else (any random vector will do). But before accepting this nest simply CANCEL and all the empty / blank sheets disappear.

How about "Ctrl-Z - Undo"? I just undid a nesting operation with it....

Yes, you can UNDO but after you've moved on / saved the file it cannot be reversed.

You can always 'increment and save' a new version of the file with Ctrl+Alt+S.
