Shark,
The 'master' version installed at the Makerspace is a full-blown version. But I suspect you mean any other version outside the Makerspace (say, your own) ? I thought not. I think we had a post here not too long ago where someone from a Makerspace posted a .CRV which no-one else could open.
Heck, I now realise that we can test this out really fast. I'm gonna make a .CRV and post it here. See if you can open it, both you as 'private' owner and Atomicbird as user of a different Makerspace.
Marcel.

Hi Guys,
The V12 Makerspace all hinges around the use of the user login on the software (Trial and Master).
As long as the user is signed into the software using the email address which is invited to be part of
the makerspace then the files they make will be part of that makerspace and can be opened on the
Master computers.

Thank You David and Marcel for the information and test file.and here is one:

This is what I got when trying the opening of the file that Marcel provided. Saying yes takes you to your Vectric Portal for sign in. Of course I did not go any further because I have a purchased Version of V-Carve already. I believe that I understand the process of Makerspace Now.
Thank You Guys,

Re: Files can only be opened on one PC
So back to the Op's Issue at hand ----
I have gone back to read the initial post and I believe now that this is a Makerspace problem issue. As the Op has said (in his initial post) --- For some reason the files in question which have been created and saved in 11.5 (Client's Home Computer) then loaded, edited and saved in 12 on a Master machine (Masterspace computer) and are not being recognized by the Client's machine (home computer) after upgrading the 11.5 version to 12.
Questions --
Same Email used -- Master and Client?
Was the Client's Home Computer upgraded to 12 done correctly via an invite from Makerspace?

Re: Files can only be opened on one PC
I agree this seems to be a Makerspace Edition -related issue.
I think the OP has done the upgrade process right - invitation and al. Otherwise he would have continuous issues.
Which leads me into thinking: what were the conditions the 'problem files' were created in ? That would be my first lead.
I hope to find a stray V11.n client version tomorrow. If so, I can try to re-create the issue. If not, let's hope for the OP that this only involves limited damage.
Marcel.

Re: Files can only be opened on one PC
I appreciate all the responses. I'll try to hit everything that's come up:
- I believe I have done the right thing as far as trial/makerspace version setup. On my trial copy, if I go to the "help" menu and choose "about", the window that appears shows my makerspace name correctly. So everything seems fine on that point, I think?
- I'm not 100% certain about email addresses matching and I don't know how to check. I do have a second Vectric account, due to confusion about how the new licensing regime works, but I think my previous point covers that since I'm using an account tied to the makerspace.
- When I try to open Marcel's file I get the same message about it being written by a different makerspace. This is extremely disturbing to me because I did not realize that individual files were locked to specific accounts. That seems exessively intrusive and limiting.
- I do still have a copy of 11.5, but it can't open the problem files because, of course, they were saved by a newer version of VCarve.

Re: Files can only be opened on one PC
Hello atomicbird,
I have checked with support regarding your issue.
It is a bit of an unusual one.
With the particular sequence on which this file has been opened and saved between V11 and V12 Makerspace editions,
we think that this has uncovered a bug. We believe that we can fix all instances of this with a modification to the trial edition.
In the meantime, our support department will send you a version of the file that should open for you, on a V12 trial edition (providing that you are logged in with your Makerspace account).
I hope that this helps.
Cheers,
Mark.
