Feature request

Post by erict »

While there isn't a standard in different software packages, the ability to zoom, scroll vertically and scroll horizontally depending on a combination of modifier key (Ctrl, Alt, Shift) and wheel movement is a very nice feature. In some other software Ctrl/Wheel is horizontal scroll, shift-wheel or alt-wheel is vertical scroll and just the wheel is zoom. Maybe one day there will be a standard, but it's a very nice feature and would be good to have in Vectric as well. Thank you!

This is a primarily a user-to-user forum. While the people from Vectric do sometimes drop by, the best way to ensure they see your suggestion is to send it to support@vectric.com
If enough people request a feature then Vectric may include it in a future release.

We have the wheel zoom function. This is just me, but all sorts of key combinations get really tedious, really quick. Especially if a person runs other software. And as you said, there is no standard. IMHO I think the whole hotkey thing is way overdone. Some are good, but a hundred or so combinations in a software package? Gimme a break.

All that said, one thing I have never liked is the lack of Pan using a mouse button. Huh? What? That is pretty darn standard in most other CAD type packages.

You can pan with just the mouse if you have one with a middle button or a clickable wheel.

All that said, one thing I have never liked is the lack of Pan using a mouse button.
Hold Ctrl + drag with Right Mouse button
or
Click and drag the Middle mouse wheel button if using a 2 button/wheel mouse

These work in both the 2D and 3D views.

In 2D mode, scroll wheel in and out makes for a very fast pan for a large project—I've already move before I can make up my mind what modifier I might need to press. Middle wheel-hold (Ctrl+Right Click-hold) makes a great local micro panning.

Panning whilst holding the middle button down is a cool feature. Thanks for teaching me something new.
