Hi,
I'm trying to figure out how to make feet for a small plant table like the one in the image.
Can anyone give me any ideas on the best way to proceed, I will be running VCarve ver12 after next week.
thanks in advance for your time.
Regards
C

Re: Best foot Forward
The first thing you will need to do is figure out if those will be an integral part of the joint, or just window dressing covering the joint.
IMHO they will be easier to make if they are an actual part of the joint.
Essentially to do parts like these you need to make a fixture to present the part for machining. In this case these could just be simple profile cuts.
Hope that helps.
BTW, being a part of the joint solves the issue of having to cut an interior corner in them so they go over the joint.

I was thinking of making each out of a solid piece of 2x2 and profiling one side to depth, then turning it over and matching the adjacent side similarly. Would this seem logical? or even some kind of ramping procedure.... I only want to make the feet posts, the front rails, or reliefs will be dowelled into these posts

A hand drawing or a drawing made from the Vectric software would be helpful in understanding what you are attempting to accomplish.

As the inside corners are simple 90 degree square, one side could be a profile cut and the top side could be done with the moulding toolpath.
Done quick. The curve I did as a section of an ellipse, but appears a bit less sharp in your example photo. I added a chamfer on the bottom edge as the example appears to have hidden in shadow at the bottom of the legs. You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Very clever indeed 4D. Maybe even add a small fillet to break the sharp edge.

Re: Best foot Forward
Got bored so I revised the shape with less curve to make it look more like the example photo.

The new curve also looks better with the chamfer IMO. 4D
