Making a lid

Post by Hitch »

I have a square hole to fill with some overlap to glue it shut. I have made the square with filleted corners, but I need to remove about 1/2" around the plug about 1/4" thick and finally cutting the full thickness. I have tried merging vectors but that didn't work. One file cleans the entire piece to a thickness of 1/4" and the other cuts out the plug. I thought merging the two was the way to go. I have each toolpath on a different layer.

Hard to follow your explanation but to me it sounds like you want to pocket around the outside of a square. To do that select the inner vector and the outer vector together for the toolpath. You don't need to merge the vectors just select the two individual vectors.

Attaching the CRV file here will get you a better answer from me or someone else.

Do you want the end result to look like this? (Just the lid)

Or the lid with a square around it?

Something Like this? Did Not mention Size of square plug

Start with 0.5" material
Carve Pocket Outside the size of the square you are needing
Profile Cut 1/2" distance from Sized square Plug

The dimensions and depths are not to your specs but you should be able see how i did it in the example.

Sometimes these threads are like watching a TV game show.

Is it behind door #1 or door #2?
