3d designs

Post by Robert_Lee »

I've used design and make exclusively for 3 years. I am interested to see if there are any other options out there for purchasing 3d files that integrate well with V-Carve pro.
Thanks

There are numerous places on ebay and etsy to buy mainly STL's, BUYER BEWARE.

IMHO
Generally speaking a good portion of the "mega" sets on those sites are pirated.
You will recognize D&M files when you see them.
The single files are usually not pirated.

Just google CNC router files and places like 3dwave, Carved details, CNC Military Emblems show up.
Sites like Grabcad, Thingiverse, Prusa have free and paid STL's more suited to 3d printing.

Again be careful some of these sites use fancy 3d modeling software which allows undercuts.
Vectric software does'n't allow undercuts so your results will not be as dramatic as their rendering.

Be careful some "off shore county X" sites models aren't accurate.
Example: one site had a CH-47 and the landing gear was wrong.
It won't matter to anyone, but a person that crewed that helicopter.
One of the few persons who actually wants a carved CH-47!

To sum it up it can be the wild west out there, do your research.

Etsy has a bunch of stuff as well.

I do not like pirated stuff, but who is to know for sure. Yeah it looks pirated.

Should I pay $25 or $50 or $100 for something from a "reputable source, or do I buy something for $10 or $5 that "might" be pirated?

That is a tough decision.

ETSY, EBAY, GRABCAD lots of places out there.

search 3D stl

Ideally something works well in VCarve is something designed for VCarve or similar products (Aspire, etc.).

Thingiverse has all manner of 3D designs with no price. Just be sure you comply with the Creative Commons licensing. But, most of those are targeted for 3D printing.
