DXF Files
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to output the tool paths created in V-Carve Pro to a DXF file? How about a PDF file?
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: DXF Files
No they are the wrong type of file for that sort of thing.

You can export your vectors as DXF.
What problem are you trying to solve by converting G code to DXF?

Re: DXF Files
It's definitely possible as I've done it in the past but why do you need to?
I had a very specialised need that required very specific toolpaths so some more info to see if you're in a similar position or if there's some other process that would do what you want would be helpful.

Re: DXF Files
Yes you can export in either DXF or PDF.
I use PDF to email drawings to my customers that don't have CAD software.
Edit.
Sorry, I just saw that your question related to toolpaths.
Toolpaths don't work with PDF.

Re: DXF Files
There’s G-Code Ripper. It’s been able to convert g-code paths to dxf for close to 10 years now.
When I first saw that ability I thought cooooollll but, tellingly, in 9 years I’ve never found a reason to use it.

Re: DXF Files
I have read about other software that will convert a g-code file into a DXF file but I didn't realise that you could do it from within the Vectric software. There have been a few posts over the years & I thought it always involved the use of some other software.Adrian wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 2:22 pmIt's definitely possible as I've done it in the past but why do you need to?

Re: DXF Files
With the right post processor you can create a DXF file directly from the toolpaths. That's what I did rather than converting the generated code. I used a v-carve toolpath to generate lines within a series of shapes for led strips. I've thought of many different ways of doing it since but that worked really well.martin54 wrote: ↑Wed Mar 29, 2023 4:29 pmI have read about other software that will convert a g-code file into a DXF file but I didn't realise that you could do it from within the Vectric software. Re: DXF Files
If you post the g-code you can open it in any text editor.
Then you can print to PDF.

Re: DXF Files
As others have asked... what are you trying to accomplish or resolve by needing this feature. No one else seems to have a need or reason. I am curious why you would want this.ColoradoDave wrote: ↑Tue Mar 28, 2023 10:01 pmCan anyone tell me if it is possible to output the tool paths created in V-Carve Pro to a DXF file?
