confused by this error message

Post by NACC »

hello all-
i designed this cam profile- when I try to set up the toolpath profile, I get this error message about open vectors.
I tried ungrouping and joining the vectors but no luck. i'm not sure what it's telling me to do? I understand it's telling me I have open vectors and to use the "join form" to fix it, but what's a "join form" - every time I select all the vectors and click to join them, it still says I have 6 open vectors. i also don't understand why it breaks up the profile into several different pieces when I calculate the toolpath.
i feel ike I'm missing something right in front of my face but I've been working on this for hours now and just really frustrated. any advice?
(i attached the crv file with some pics below. thanks guys. )

You need to ungroup

Then select all the individual vector lines

Then JOIN them - Either Right click/JOIN - OR - press J for join

Change your tolerance setting. It's way too fine at the moment to cover all the gaps.

Try setting the Tolerance to: 0.001

If that still doesn't work try 0.005
If that still doesn't work try 0.010

The vectors need to be within Tolerance of each other to be recognized as joinable by the software.

You may have better control if you use node edit mode. Select the vector and press "N" on the keyboard. all start points will be green. Zoom in close and drag a node so they are on top of each other. Exit node edit mode and select join again.
