Swan in pink swirled Corian

Post by IBBruin »

The swan was downloaded from Vectrics 3D models and tool path generated in V3 Machinist. After importing the toolpath into cut2D I did the layout geometry and depth of cut. I decided not to polish this to a glossy shine. I used 220 grit paper on an orbital sander with a very light finishing pass which gave it the look and soft feel of a bar of soap. I've seen some unbelievable things produced by others that I can't hold a candle to but this is probably the finest piece of art I've created with my home made cnc router.

This will be my first post on this forum so I hope the picture shows up.

It looks much better than my first attempt at a swan in marble. You should be very proud.

I chuck up a 4 inch cotton wheel in my drill press, set the spindle rpm to max and use some green polishing compound I get at Harbor Freight. It's time consuming but you can even get the rough side of corian polished pretty well.

Thank you all for the kind words.

Rcnewcomb, I'd be proud if my first attempt looked as good as yours.
