Need input on text idea.

Post by jmaggi3 »

Is there any program out there, or some way to get curved text into Cut2D?

DeskEngrave is a free program that will convert curved text into G-code or DXF. I have not tried it with Cut2D.

http://www.deskam.com/deskengrave.html

This is from their website:

DeskEngrave is a basic True Type Font to Vector Converter that allows saving of G-Code or DXF files. It will convert a single line of text into the required toolpaths for engraving. It can create toolpaths aligned along an arc or straight line. It includes a TTF 'Stick Style' font - Stick40. It is being released to the CNC community free of charge. We hope you enjoy using DeskEngrave.

You should be able to do it with most any CAD program, save as a .dxf and import into Cut2d. Many times I will volunteer to do it to help out, but my drive crashed recently and I don't currently have the ability.

I use DesignCad it can draw text along a curve, then export the drawing as .dxf, then import in Cut2D.

Inkscape might be able to do it for you. It's a freeware vector graphics program that can do text on a curve. It can also export as DXF. Not certain it will work for you but it's worth a look.

Just wanted to thank everyone on thier great ideas.

Was able to make a Christmas ornament for a relative who loved it.

Cut 2D won't allow for a preview in clear plastic, but the attached is what I made her.

Cool ornament, I take it that the center part is suspended somehow. Thanks for sharing the final design with us.

The True type font is called "Nightmare Before Christmas" from the Tim Burton anamation.

I tryed to attach the font to this post, but this forum does not allow ttf extensions.
