What is the correct way to cut this shape?

Post by zapbrannigan »

I just want to cut this into a piece of wood. The error is that it contains open contours and that I must first join contours.

What is the correct way to carve this?

This preview was created using a Profile tool path cutting 'On' the line using a 90 degree V Bit with a depth of 1mm

If you are looking for a result such as the deer in this post: viewtopic.php?p=276493#p276493 then you have some work to do making the vectors acceptable for such a cut.

If you are happy with something like martindg’s example then you have everything you need.

I’d suggest different depths of cuts for each area of the beast. Maybe the eyes as they are. The head, nose, and feet shallower and more drawing line-like. The spine mass somewhere in between. The arcs for the simplified spines adjusted so that they don’t make the hedgehog look like an ankylosaurus.

Thanks. I don't know why I got so many warnings. Did what you said and it worked fine.
Go figure.
