Sloped end of a groove

Hi, just wondering if anyone knows how to do a groove with a sloped end at both ends from nothing to the depth of the groove?
Its for machining some biscuit slots - if anyone can help?

Have you tried the Fluting toolpath?
Draw a line the appropriate length, select it, choose Fluting Toolpath and assign your bit and slope options.

Which software do you have? If it's VCarve or Aspire then the fluting toolpath is the way to go.
With Cut2D there aren't any 2.5d toolpaths like fluting and v-carving so you'll need to get creative. One way is to create a series of straight lines on top of each other with each one being shorter than the previous one. You can then create a profile toolpath for each one with sequential start depths and the same cut depths to produce a sloped slot.

I thought Cut 2D may not do it - probably worth me upgrading to Vcarve at some point - what other benefits of V carve are there? We are mainly doing flat panels at present

Major difference is the 2.5d toolpaths (v-carve,fluting,prism,moulding and textures) plus VCarve can machine 3D relief models as well.

Are you cutting into the top or are you cutting into the side with a key cutter?

Some of these things are really simple if a person knows a bit of gcode programming.
Set a G18/19 for an XZ or YZ plane. Determine how high above the work piece surface the center of the arc needs to be and just program the thing with a few arcs increasing in size. Simple as that.
A person can waste hours/days fiddling around trying to make a piece of software do something it was never intended to do.
