different toolpath in text

Post by Dale Yeager »

Is there a way to program just specific letters of text with a different toolpath then the rest of the text other then making it 2 (or more) groups of text. I want to create a different effect on some letters.

Hi Dale,
assuming your using V8 you can use the Convert to Curves icon when your test is selected to convert it to normal individual vectors these can then be grouped/toolpathed as you would like to use them. The image below shows this icon highlighted with an orange box.

Once you convert to curves then you can't edit it as "text" any more. So make sure you make a safe copy if you think you may need to do that again.

Thanks,
James

I guess that is one option, thanks. However, for what I am currently doing making several plaques, just changing names, it looks like it will be easier for me to just edit the toolpaths by deleting the excess tools.
