Question:
I have watched tutorials and cannot figure out how to insert a slot/handle in a board. It may help if I tell you exactly what I am making - a large tray for a 50" square ottoman. I want to round off the tops of the 4 sides and also place a slot in each side for fingers in order to pick up the tray. I explored using a roundover bit, however the side pieces will be about 1 1/2" thick and will need the roundover on both sides. Same with the top of the sides. I don't mind flipping the piece to do rounding from each side. Seems like there should be a way to do it with a ball nose using a modeling toolpath.
Clear enough?
Thanks
Jane

Can't figure it out. And I did a few tutorials (wrong ones). spent a couple hours in Modeling. Not enough experience in there.
Can you give me a few hints?
Thanks

I have a specific issue with a project. I believe I can attach a few images and maybe the 3D obj or stl file and the crv file is that correct? I would like to know what I should include. Thanks!

The CRV file for sure is always the most useful. The STL file helps as well if it's something that is related to the import process.

I am trying to make a new stock for an antique rifle. I glued together what is left of the old one, made a 3D scan and I am having trouble getting an accurate representation of the model in Aspire. The model imports great but once I hit the ok button in the "Orient 3D Model" tab, one side of the part is not correct. I have included the crv file and some images. I can,t attach the stl file I will try to convert it to something else and it seems the crv file is too large, let me see if I can figure some way to post it.
original 3D import
original 3D import
after import
after import
after import
after import
after import
after import
This is all new to me so I could use all the help I can get! Thanks.

I tried a zipped file but is still too large. I'm not sure how to include the crv file with it being so large.

It looks like the model is positioned such that it does not totally encompass the centreline of the material. Aspire's rotary machining requires that the centreline is completely inside the model. You will have to position the model at an angle as you import it.
