Re: Support Pages and Frequently Asked Questions
Chris,
It's more of what type of file can Aspire work with.....
You can see a list of file types on the Aspire features page.
http://www.vectric.com/products/aspire/features.htm
Also if you click on the import 3d file button in Aspire, there will be a dropdown box with a list of file types that can be imported.
I hope this helps.
Michael

Re: Support Pages and Frequently Asked Questions
Hi Chris,
I think you are asking about what file types Aspire can work with? If so, these FAQs should help you:
http://support.vectric.com/aspire-quest ... nto-aspire
http://support.vectric.com/aspire-quest ... e-imported
Some of these types of files are proprietary but others can be produced by many other programs.
Aspire can export 3D models as .stl, .obj and .pov file types and 2D vectors as .dxf, .eps, .ai and .svg.

Re: Support Pages and Frequently Asked Questions
I am really asking what types of programs that generate g code, like mach 3 are compatable with Aspire. I now have a cncshark, which has its own proprietary software, which I know will work. However, if I get a different machine, what software would I use? I'm sorry to be so ignorant on this, but I have only used Vectric products on the Shark.

Re: Support Pages and Frequently Asked Questions
Chris, It is the post processor that determines the output of the aspire files ... and there is a lot
so compatible with a lot of machine its easier if you say what you what you are looking at .
I used Mach 3 and now have Shopbot . Just changed the PP

Curious as to where it says on the Vectric web site that Aspire can "Export" models in a STL format. I currently have Aspire to 2.5 and would jump at an upgrade if I can indeed export in STL.

Re: Support Pages and Frequently Asked Questions
There are many other good reasons to upgrade but you may be interested to know you can export in STL from V2.5. Open the Model pull down menu from the main menu and select "Export as STL".I currently have Aspire to 2.5 and would jump at an upgrade if I can indeed export in STL.
Version 4 had added the additional 3D export file types.

Re: Support Pages and Frequently Asked Questions
YES - Aspire 4 can indeed export STL.
I just exported an STL - then imported it into Solidworks.

Re: Support Pages and Frequently Asked Questions
Tim and Leo
I would like to thank you both. Guess I have been spending too much time doing 2D stuff in Aspire.
FYI, the reason I am interested in exporting in the STL format is that I am going to get a 3D printer soon and think it would be cool to use Aspire to create some interesting projects.
And yes, I will be upgrading to Aspire 4.0 anyway.
Thanks
Larry

Re: Support Pages and Frequently Asked Questions
Larry, the sign I did in the STL view was totally done in Aspire. I used NO other software. I exported the STL and imported to Solidworks only to show that is CAN be done.

December 2013 update
Today, 12/6/2013, I asked Aspire 4.015 to check for updates.
It said it updated some data files.
Is there somewhere I can find out what was updated?
Thanks,
Chelmite
