Hi, I am trying to import images to my vcarve. What type of files will work? When I select import, it is not pulling up my image

I've been using Vcarve Desktop and Pro for a couple years and last night I made a file and finished it, saved and closed. Today I went to open the file and Vcarve would not open, I received this popup. I uninstalled the program and reinstalled it, all went fine, but when I tried opening the new install, same thing. Hope I can get some help here. I emailed Vectric as well. TIA

You can try going to the Program Files folder where VCarve is installed and running the vcredist_vc110... file in administrator mode.

Maybe this is a question for the admins.
Where can I ask specific questions on how to design parts for fine furniture or cabinets?
Could you add a section for those interested in Cabinet making.

This is really a user to user support forum for the use of the Vectric software. I'm not sure there is enough to discuss about using the software to make furniture or cabinets that would warrant a whole new forum section. Generally those topics, when they come up, are discussed in the VCarve or Aspire general sections depending which product is being used. There is some discussion in the Gadgets forums as there are some gadgets that Jim has developed for making cabinets.

Just my opinion as a user. Vectric, and others, may think differently.

Yes I agree with you that this a user forum. The "General" topic is such a large topic, I was just throwing my two cents in that we need a bit more organization on specific topics and uses - Carving, inlays, toys etc, wedding gifts stools and the lists goes on.

Problem is we already have sub forums and they aren't used properly.

People post stuff all the time in general that should be in the sub forums such as pictures of projects (should be in the gallery), queries about gadgets, queries about post processors, rotary questions, hardware questions etc etc.

I think it's about right at the moment. If everyone used the right category for every post then more categories would make things easier to find but they are never going to.

You can use your favorite search engine and type in:
furniture site:forum.vectric.com
to search the forum for more specific keywords such as furniture

Look at the advanced search features on your favorite internet search engine for additional features. For example this looks for cherry and chair but excludes results with walnut:

Model/Create Component/Add Zero Plane.

I strongly recommend that you not only watch the videos, but follow along in your own copy of the software. It will save you a lot of struggles later on.

Help

Post by Jimmac »

Are there any experts, or well versed in the Vcarve desktop software program that live in the Tampa / Zephyrhills area of Florida, that would be willing to make a house call to help a new user of Vcarve that is totally lost getting started. I will pay for your time and expenses. I have tried the support people, but can't make heads or tails out of what they tell me to do. I\downloaded some D&M clip art, but can't find it in my computer, Heck, I can't even find the "clip art library". I am a newbee at Vectric but have on computers since the Radio Shack Model 1 was new. Sometimes longevity just doesn't count. Well, that's my story, and I'm sticking to it.
