Hey pops,

They are excellent ! What bit you using and the settings? I've done dozens of lithos myself, just wondering if your using the same as me.

Hey Tony I got to see your work on facebook and it looks great , looks like you are shooting for the same quality as I am with the litho's. I'am reaaly interested in the acrylic carving , I want to try it I was told for the 3-D you need aspire but I'am curious if i can do signs and logos using v-carve it seems like it would work. if you would like to get into more detail about litho's let me know. I'am curious about your settings and run time I've been told my run times are a waste but I won't sacrifice my quality to safe on a electric bill . thanks pops

Pops, your 1% stepover is the cause of the excessive cut times.
I'm all for detail, I really do not think you would notice any difference at 5 to 10% and you'd cut the time in by 50-75%.
Its not all about electricity, you got extra wear and tear on the machine and bits, and also lost productivity tying up the machine half a day doing 1 8x10 when you could do 4 in the same time frame.
But by all means, continue on with the 1% if thats what you have in mind to do.

Xray I see the point your making , I went back and looked at some files of different litho's , and were all my #'s were at. The way I was told to do these was to set line spacing so you end up with .003 -.004 on you distance between lines. And one thing I have found out about getting your numbers is how good the picture is and how well you can edit it. I'am going to run a couple this weekend and play with the numbers and see how the look . No offence to you thanks , pops

I am almost impossible to offend, just offering advice.
As you say, play around with settings and compare, if I was a betting man [which I am] I'd bet there is no visual difference at all between 1% and 8%, and you'd save substantial time and machine wear.
Too, if you ever get into selling these vs personal use, you are for sure going to want to trim down cutting time, time = $$ in that case.

Hard to say, I guess they are worth whatever you can get for them.
Haven't sold many as I just started lithos a few weeks ago, I sold the one pictured below for $125, about 9x12" mdf frame with remote LED control.
Might perhaps have got more, for sure less ,,, But it only took 2.5 hours to cut, maybe $25 in materials so it was worthwhile to me and the person who got is was thrilled.

Xray nice job . I've been curious the size of the photo you use makes a differents in the quality I find smaller photos by the time you edit and enlarge ruins quality. bigger picts for bigger liths smaller and older keep down sized . Or maybe I need a better photo edit program.

No doubt the better resolution and quality the pic, the better the result will be.
My 1st attempt at a litho was with poorly exposed subjects, after 3 failed attempts I gave up.
