Re: Horses Plaque
Thanks Tony, Michael
Michael not quite sure what you mean by the blue area. The main horse head model is walnut and is finished with MINWAX, Antique Oil Finish. The backing plaque with the smaller model machined into it is made of cherry, and is finished with GENERAL FINISHES, Salad Bowl Finish. So this project shows the respective wood colors enhanced by the different oils I used on them.
Thanks
Don

That's great, I'm just learning how to use cut3d. I cut my first piece and it turned out great, you are right some great software.

Re: Horses Plaque
I am extremly new to this whole thing. I have both cut3D and Vcarve pro but it seems to me that you would have to use some sort of a draw program. Your Carving is awesome but I have no idea how you got there. I don't expect a detailed report just point me in the right direction if you can. Thanks

Re: Horses Plaque
Hi Jeffery, and welcome!
The horses in the plaque appear to be from Vector Art 3D. They have great models you can purchase that are designed to be cut on a CNC.
You can load them into Cut 3D and toolpath. For further functionality, you can the import the Cut3D file into VCarve Pro, to add text, borders, etc.
You can learn a lot by going through the tutorials that come with your software and by visiting the Vectric support site, HERE.
Good luck - I know it's a bit of a learning curve, but well worthwhile. This forum is a great place with great people willing to help!

Re: Horses Plaque
Hi Jeffrey, Like ssflyer said, Vectric has GREAT tutorials and if you draw along with them and copy their moves it sticks a LOT better. I just started a shade over a year ago and had NEVER done graphics or CNC's before so I was kind of intimidated, but I STILL learn something new every time I watch them to make me faster and better. Watch James closely while he draws(he's tricky---and uses the shortcuts and you go "HUH! How'd he do that?"
The basics come really fast once you get into it, because Vectric is so user friendly. And the forum has really great people for when you get stumped

I've learned my lesson well. You can't please everyone,so you have to please yourself
