Commemerative Plate

Post by P.Passuello »

Here is a recent project I did.
The rear of the plate and the 3d model were done in Cut 3D
The Laser engraving and final cutout were done in VCarve Pro

Video of how it was made.

Beautiful work, Peter. Even more importantly, congratulations on the new addition to your family.

Even better...you can spoil her, then give her back to her parents...:)

That's nice work Peter. I like your choice of font.

Never heard of a Lasershoe II. I must investigate this.

I'm confused as to how you managed to flip the work over and keep the center aligned. Can you elaborate please. I watched your video but am still unsure.

Keep posting.

Hi Georgie,

When I flipped the plate I transfered the center position of the plate from the first side to the 2nd side by measuring. I used the same edges on both sides to ensure I would be right. The cutter was then aligned with the center mark. Normally I would have just drawn lines across opposite corners which would have made things easy and avoided the mistake I made but in my case there was a notch cut out of one corner so I couldn't do this. I like to flip models that are round like the plate because it is easy to get alignment on a circle using the center.

LaserShoe II is a creation of my own so you will only find it on my YouTube channel. Basically it is a method holding the laser while providing a bit of shielding to the user, (Laser glasses still mandatory), and more importantly it provides fume extraction. Drop me a message if you want more info.

Cheers
