Cut3D

Post by sli21 »

hi all
just started doingsome 3d work on my cnc
i modelled up a round bowl in onshape as an stl file, loaded it into Cut3D, generated code and proceeded to machine it out.
the bowl is 420diam. my blank is round in shape
Can i machine the round bowl shape instead of the 420x420 square solid with the bowl enclosed? Does that make sense?
The machine obviously spends a lot of time cutting air where there is no material.
pictures attachd
thanks all
Scott

In Step 2 (Material Size and Margins) try checking Use Model Silhouette.
