Cutting Foam Rubber

Post by meljaxx »

To say I was new to the CNC thing would be a HUGE understatement but I'm going to give it a try.
I would like to be able to somehow trace/scan/outline a tool then carve out a piece of foam to nest it in for storage. I've seen this done all over youtube but I haven't been able to find out the steps needed to make it happen with Vcarve. If someone could point me in the right direction I would be eternally grateful !

1. Take a photo of the object. As perpendicular as possible so no distorsion.
2. Take a repeatable measurement of object, or include a ruler
3. Import file.
4. Using measurement, scale photo to correct size. Check resize with Measure tool.
5. Draw outline around object with Create Vectors tools. Some of the Tutorial videos are very helpful. This is a skill you want to learn.
6. Place vector outline on cutout project.

It's that easy.....
