2-sided Machining with non-planar split line?

Post by jeb »

Hi,
Is it possible to machine 2 sides of a model like this? The only way I can think of to do it would be generate two separate one-sided toolpaths with the model centered in the material. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Jacob

That the way I would do it.

What are the dimensions of this part? Maybe it can be done sideway with a very long cutter (doesn't have to be small CED).

Hi,
Thanks for the reply. The part is something like 6"x6". Also this is a simplified version, the real one has a domed feature on the convex face, so no side machining. I thought there might be another way since it is easy to generate the toolpath for one side or the other, but not both..... guess not.
Cheers,
Jacob

Use the step 2 feature called "Overcut Distance Below Cut Plane". Use 19 mm for this model.
