Can I cut a hollow mold shape and NOT machine top surface?

Post by Martin_us »

I cant get the final tool path to not machine over the material surface. I only want to cut out the hollow mold shape.

Slice it to almost (say minus 0.001") the total thickness of the model then use the sliced model (*.v3d).

I remember well doing this before but I cannot make it work now... I have this *.v3d file that is just like that (from before) but when recalculate doesn't work anymore for the finishing toolpath.
Maybe something as changed since then (new release - I may be running a beta [1.402]) in Cut 3D's code... which is sad cause this particularity of the slicing feature of Cut 3D has saved me hourS before (link). Maybe it's just missing something...

Exactly what I thought; I am running a beta which doesn't work for this trick (Vectric please fix this). Running release 1.025 enable me to machine only the area that require machining.
