Foam Insert

Post by kp77 »

I am trying to make an insert for a pool cue case to hold and cushion the pool cue. Has anyone done something like this before that could tell me where I could find foam for this purpose.
It needs to be durable but not so hard that it would scratch the cue.
Thanks for reading and have a great day!

A friend of mine whose company makes foam inserts for tool cases uses 9 pound polyurethane foam. If you google, "tool box foam insert", you will find some suppliers of similar material. This foam is fairly rigid, and may scratch a fine wood finish. You could consider making a wood insert with a shaped cavity that you would flock to provide cushioning.

Thanks Angie,
I make a lot of these pool case and I have tried flocking. It works but is too time consuming. I have purchased electronics that came with foam inserts to cushion and that type would be perfect if I can cut it on router. I will look for the 9 lb foam and see where that leads me.
Thank you for your reply.
