3D Cutting Boards
Attached is a photo of a Cutting Board that Chris Burns from ShopBot Tools showed at the Kansas Camp ShopBot. This uses one of the Vector Art 3D models in Machinist to cut the dished Eagle. The neat idea here is that the back side is where you do the cutting (the flat area around the Eagle is what it rests on) then once done you wash it and stand it up on the flat edge at the bottom so it makes a nice 3D display in your kitchen. Piece shown is North Carolina Ash - board is 2 inches thick, Eagle is cut about 0.5 - 0.75 inch deep as best as I can tell - took around an hour to make - single pass with a tapered 1/8 ballnose cutter. Cheers, James
