Hi all...
Been playing with different contrasts.
Leaving the 3d shiny and refinishing the outside
to a matte finish, really sets off the 3D model.
This style seems to get the best reviews.
Made on my rebuilt cnc shark...

Very good job, and you are right, the contrast makes your subject more distinct, and it really "snaps"!
Glad you got your cnc rebuilt. Is it more accurate now as well as quicker?

The particle board table had lots of flex before. I built a .75 tooling plate base with 2 captured rails and 2 round rails. X and Y runout are now in the .001's...i would say less than .010 on 24 inches. That part is working great.
I redesigned the lower gantry at the same time and made a bolted box 4x4 out of .5 and .75 aluminum flatbar. Again...it took out the flex of the lower gantry.
One problem came up when i put it back together. The small steppers they had on it now cannot drive it at 100%. I find myself programming in raster X so it takes small gantry moves, and let the Y and Z axis do all the long moves.
So...the short answer...i did not pick up much in the way of speed...but the quality is alot better with no table or lower gantry flex. I put drilled and tapped holes every 2 inches....and that works nice for setup...now i wished i had put them every one inch.
