Poplar Eagle

Post by Xxray »

Here is one a bit better than average. About 10x10, I most often leave works like this without any stain, just a clear coat. Poplar often has some wild grain patterns that look like marble, so it looks better without any stain.
This one was an exception, it looked pretty bland, so I put some stain on the eagle, and a lighter stain on the rest of the wood.
Am pleased with the result, was carved on a Camaster Stinger, .25 endmill for rough, .9 spiral for finish, total cut time was about 2.5 hours.
