Re: VCP8 3D PUTZING

As long as I had it dialed in for an Onsrud .25" 30degree engraving bit with a .01" flat, Conventional, Offset cut...I decided to make a few :) Gifts for our Maine Guides on our annual father/son fly fishing trip (they're both hand carvers), and a couple for Dad to show around. Cut is unsanded/unfin...

Re: pricing question

Whew! Thought you were mad AND thought me incompetent :( Do you think that Time thing might have been the IPS(Inch Per Second) thing? (Shopbot Control software default) Needed to play with pocketing/profiling larger diameter holes anyways so I can pour Tin in them for Dad and try some more "TInlays:...

Re: pricing question

Mike, Good catch to swap down to the 5/8". Notice the "Divot" in pic that a 3/4"Brazed left:( Very glad I was cutting all air except for last .015" in this Butternut.(didn't want to ruin a board for a full test) WAS off on time because my VR settings 12:10 for the two toolpaths, But could have been ...

Re: pricing question

Go to IPS (Inches Per Second), (It's a Shopbot thing) :) Oh, and that's MY machine and I just used my Hard Maple default settings. Your Mileage WILL vary. Personally I would use my .5" Down and make sure the material was FIRMLY down against spoilboard, BUT Russel's Compression spiral would be the id...

Re: pricing question

Just deleted a long reply :x Try a Profile with a straight ramp with a .015 offset to depth shown in "Roughing"pic. Then "Duplicate" that toolpath and edit tool to cut full depth in 1 pass no Offset. (DON'T forget to ramp!) like in 2B "Finish" toolpath. Still saves time and gives good dimensions and...

Re: pricing question

With a 3/4" bit, have you considered a Profile cut with a Spiral Ramp?
Need a couple test cut's to dial in for Your machine/materials/bit though.
Just thinking.

Re: VCP8 3D PUTZING

Is there any way in VCP8, to change or "Cookie Cut" that second original "Owl" file? (I like the detail MUCH better) Trying now to use a "Dished" oval/rectangle and only have certain parts "Emerge" from the "Dish", Just wondering of there's another VCP way? 2 "Flatgrains"(Climb vs Conventional) left...

Re: More YoYo projects - Just couldn't resist

Partial to that last Combo myself:)
But like the weaves like always(especially the "Hearts"). :)
VCarve looks Really nice on a Dome, and the "dots" make a really nice contrast.

Re: VCP8 3D PUTZING

And this is the original file, again using an Offset toolpath with no Roughing. Oh, same exact bit...Kyocera .125" 30 degree engraving with .012 flat form Drillman1 on E-Bay for $4. these are both endgrain. ALL were straight from the machine with just a good scrub with a stiff Boar bristle brush and...

VCP8 3D Putzing

Just trying to get my feet under me, so playing with 1.75" Hard Maple children's blocks (for time and cost factors) to compare apples to apples on simple things on a NO roughing Offset toolpath and simply comparing endgrain 3D vs flatgrain, and Conventional cut vs Climb. This first one was a friends...

Re: More YoYo projects - Just couldn't resist

Nah!, Quite obviously it's a Gimp like me, on his Mag-Lev wheelchair, calling the Mothership on his early version Motorola "Bag phone" complaining that the last download didn't "Take" :) Not sure how a smart guy like you misinterpreted something so Simple :D We simple little VCP guys can now project...
