Re: Foxalien Vastro XL
You don't really need the exact machine to be listed, it is easy enough to set up a new machine profile & enter the data from the manufacturer. The most important part is to make sure you are using the correct post-processor & that is determined by the machine control system rather than the actual m...

Re: Problem with Cut files
Are you transferring the files to your CNC computer before running the code or are you using a USB stick to drip feed the code? Try transferring the whole file to the computer before running the g-code. If you are using a USB stick for any part of your process have you tried using a different USB st...

Re: Using the Rotary In V-Carve Pro
Your not the only one who doesn't have a rotary   I did start making one a long time ago but it's still one of my unfinished projects. I would have had to raise the gantry on the CNC as well to be able to use it & since that was fairly major surgery it is another project that didn't get do...

Re: What wood to use
Thanks Scott, I did make these thicker than 1/2" which may have made a difference, they have certainly stood up well over time. I did do one for a friend with his Granddaughters name on it but I used a different font as I had read up on educational toys by then & used one of the suggested fonts. Sti...

Re: What wood to use
I made these a few years ago now & 2 of my Grandkids have played with them a lot, yes they have been chewed & launched across the room more than I care to think about   They are beech just over 2" tall but they are just over 3/4" thick (20mm). The bases are Oak. The corners are slightly ro...

Re: What wood to use
I generally use Beech for this sort of thing, I also know that maple is a favoured wood by toy makers but the sawmill where I buy most of my wood doesn't often have maple, I guess it's not that abundant around the area I live   Is this something that is going to be used as a teaching aid? ...

Re: One open vector
Looks like your problem has been solved but something else worth remembering is that if vectors are grouped open vectors will not show so before using the tool to find open vectors you need to make sure they are not grouped

Re: Smooth Semicircle
How are you drawing your semi-circles within Vcarve? I have tried a number of different ways & I haven't been able to reproduce what you have said when drawing semi-circles within the software   Can you select bezier within Corel for creating your semi-circles rather than line segments, th...

Re: Feature request for Job Setup Datum
I normally set it as I create a new sheet but if I need to make changes then I use the sheets tab as Adrian has already mentioned.
The forum is mainly user to user, feature requests are better sent directly to Vectric where they keep a list of them

Re: Unable to get clean V Carved Text
I would check the bit you are using, as adze_cnc has already said that looks to have been cut with a much larger v bit than 90 degree if it were cut with a V bit at all

Re: Cutting 1/4" plexiglass
I didn't intend to complicate things. In my experience, if the acrylic is paper covered, it's generally cast. If it is plastic covered, it is generally extruded. Others may have different experinces, though. Certainly different in the UK, all the brands of cast acrylic & polycarbonate I have used o...

Re: Possibility of adjusting origin position
Not sure I understand either   This is where either the file or screenshots come in handy. Can't you simply go back into job set up & change the size of your stock if you have cut your stock material to short? You would then need to recalculate all toolpaths. If you wanted to keep the or...

Re: mach 3 single key press to start
What screenset are you using with mach3 & does it have a park position? I was thinking if the machine was set up correctly then it would cut the material & then move to the park position, you remove the piece of flooring & insert a new one & then press cycle start again.

Re: 2.5 model on 1.5” material endmill recommendations
As Randall says any tool with a long enough CEL, the other thing to be aware of with an extended length bit is that there is more chance of tool deflection so you need to adjust your speed & feed settings accordingly

Re: Poor vcarve results
If you can't post the file then screenshots would be the next best option but more info would be required, material your cutting, is it a V bit or an engraving bit? Settings for the bit from the tool database more info on the bit you are using, are you using a clearance bit at all. how are you setti...
